Sir ‘Ector's owners came to Virginia Equine Research as a last resort. Their 26 year old gelding was foundering over and over again, and his daily medications included Pergolide, Bute, and Isoxuprine. Additionally, he was receiving Albuterol, Legend injections, Banamine, DMSO, Flovent, Depomedrol, and Amikacin. We immediately put Sir 'Ector on HorseSense with Chromium. His breathing was perfectly clear in just a few days. |

Within two weeks Sir 'Ector was weaned off the Pergolide. Closely watching grass consumption, we continued the Isoxuprine to help the blood circulation in his compromised feet. In less than 6 months, Sir ‘Ector was off ALL medications and turned out with the other horses on full pasture…more importantly, he is completely sound, trotting and galloping across the pasture with the other horses. |
